From this image the colour scheme already gives us the impression that this double page spread is from a rock themed magazine. The bold bright blue really makes the bold black titles stand out. The main info is also highlighted with a bold blue box to attract readers attention. Half of the double page spread is taken up by a picture of the band, which seems to be a recurring theme with a lot of the double page spreads that I have researched. The image seems to look as though not much thought has been put into it however the name of the band is 'The Teenagers' therefore the background and image is relevant to the band. A pull quote is also visible, it can easily be seen as it is highlighted in a blue box with white writing, this attracts the audience because giving them a taster of the interview can decipher whether they want to read the interview or not, so usually the most interesting part is used. The Need to Know box is useful in case the readers don't know the band, the main info is presented and this can also decipher whether the readers want to read on or not, depending on if they like the sound of the band. On the right hand side of the page is a section on other new and upcoming bands, this is also relevant to the band featured as they are also new so the small article seems appropriate to be placed on the same page.
This double page spread is from Q magazine.
Half of the double page spread is taken up by a picture of the famous 'P!nk' it is a picture of her laughing looking very happy which shows its going to be a quite a fun interview.
There is not really a colour theme, apart from the black titles which have been written on a white background, this has been done so the title and the writing stands out more.
I think the layout has been left to be quite simple because that is the theme of the magazine, but also because the pop star herself is quite to herself, she isn't in the media a lot making the interview more special which is why the page has been left to be simple because having pink do an interview is special itself.
I think the close up image portrays that Pink is comfortable with her image and she is happy to do a close up shot.

This contents page is for 'Vibe' magazine, the genre of this magazine is R&B therefore the magazine should be very stylish and modern.
The endorsement picture is of 'Ciara' who is very big in the R&B music world therefore the image is relative to the magazine and meets the expectations of the target audience.
Ciara also crosses her legs in a 'V' shape which mirrors the white V on the page, this is different and shows the readers of the editing that has been used, it is different and stylish which will make the readers focus on it more.
The word 'Contents' is also written differently to usual however it is placed at the top of the page which is where it usually written. The way it is written it is different which will appeal to the audience as the could appreciate that it is not the stereotypical way.
The colour scheme is also very modern, grey and white, the fading effect also adds to this.
The title headings are written in a different font to the rest of the writing. This separates the different sections making it easier for the reader to find what they are looking for.
The contents page is very minimalistic which shows that it is aimed for an older target audience because the younger audience magazines seem to be very busy and not organised. The page is simple but because the picture is quite big it still gives a good effect.

The first thing we see is the very large and bold title at the top of the page, this instantly tells the reader what's going to be included in the magazine this week.
The main titles are written in a bold font to separate out the different parts of the magazine, news, radar, reviews, live! and features, this will help the audience look for articles quicker as they are organised.
The large picture in the middle and the short story take up most of the contents page, it is also separated from the rest of the page, still keeping things organised.

The lure at the bottom of the page gets readers interested, it works out better for the readers as they save £45 as well as gets more people buying the magazine which is good for NME.
The colour scheme stays the same, red black and white this is to keep continuity. The layout also pretty much stays the same in all of NME's contents pages. The titles are written in a bold font to make them more eye catching,
The colour scheme used is also the same as the front cover; red, white and black which dennotates that it is for quite a younger audience as they are quite bold colours, the colours which have been used are used as a regular colour scheme now, so as well as the recognisable logo the repetitive colours also are recognisable.
The font used is also the same on both pages, it is clear and eye catching but also quite a modern style therefore meets the target market as well as codes and conventions for a magazine.
The boxes highlighting the main titles give the magazine a more proffessional look.
The contents page is written in columns which is quite stereotypical of a magzine meeting the audiences expectations.
The picture is a long shot of a well known band, this is endorsement, the shot shows a full length image of the band, from the picture we can see the bands appearance as well as the background. They are dressed as a typical indie band and placed in quite a cool surrounding, they look chilled and relaxed which will relate to the target audience.
In the top right hand corner, there is the date of the issue which helps the reader to realise the relevance of a feature in the issue.
The layout is clear and simple to keep with the theme of the magazine, this will appeal to the audience because if they want to look for a particular article it will be easy to find.

The music genre for this magazine is pop, the target audience for this magazine probably young girls aged between 9 and 15.
The use of endorsement has been used as the main front cover picture is of a famous band, as well as the other celebrities pictures which will encourage the target audience to buy the magazine.
The fact that all the band members are smiling and not doing a serious pose show that the magazine is quite fun.
The colour scheme is mainly pink showing that it is more aimed at girls. 'The Wanted!' is written in a pink font but with a yellow box behind it making it stand out more than the other articles, this is to show that this is the main article which will make the audience decide whether they want to buy it or not. It is also bold and bright which will easily catch the audience attention.
The actual layout of the magazine is very busy, there is hardly any of the background showing because of all the pictures and article headings. I think this shows that it is defiantly for a younger target audience compared to the magazines which are aimed at the older target audience as they seem to be more minimalistic.
The articles definitely show that it is aimed for the target audience, for example 'Lush lads stripped' and 'Personality or Looks, what boys really go for!' these types of articles wouldn't really be seen on any other magazine apart from a young girls magazine. This magazine will appeal to the target audience because the can relate to it.
The lure of a competition 'Win a pop star weekend in London' will also appeal to the target audience.
Unless you didn't know what the magazine was from the logo, the title is fairly covered up with only 'top' that can be seen, however this shouldn't make to much of a difference as the logo is fairly recognisable.
Mode of address is informal as words like 'OMG' are used which wouldnt be used on a magazine for the older audience.

NME magazine's target audience is teenagers - young adults; as most people this age spend there money on going to gigs, buying clothes, music downloads or cd's and buying magazines.
The magazine have placed there logo in the corner, 'NME' is written in its designed typeface because it is unique to the magazine and recognisable. The logo is used for advertising and branding purposes. The logo will attract the audience as people will instantly recognise it.
The main story is written in the middle of the page which attracts the eye straight to it, the type face is modern and based at the younger age, also the contrasting colours of red and yelllow are quite bright which will also grab the attention of the younger audience.
The picture of the band is also quite weird with the masks which will attract the audience who are interested in this genre of magazine.
The lure of the free gift will attract readers, it is also relevant to the music magazine as it is a record.
Bottom right there is the date of issue and price; this allows dedicated NME readers to order there issues categorically; a typical code and convention of music magazines as if the date of the issue was not visible the buyer may buy the same issue twice; therefore a date and price is vital to the brand, also the bar code which you expect to find on a magazine.
The general layout of the magazine is quite loud and busy, the bold bright colour scheme accentuates this meeting the expectations and stereotypes of the buyers of this genre magazine.
The route of the eye follows the title as well as the main band member who is also placed in the centre of the rule of the thirds making him stand out even more. The route also follows the stories that are placed in the corners.
Q Magazine Cover

- - The use of 'Lady GaGa' as the front cover is celebrity endorsement, she will attract passers buy with such a controversial image making the audience want to buy the magazine to see others as well as hearing her point of view. Also the image is placed right in the center of the magazine making it the first thing that attracts us to the magazine, the editors of Q magazine know that they must use a familar and interesting character to place on the front to attract attention.
- - The colour scheme used doesnt really differ with Q magazine, as the logo is always red with the white 'Q' so they tend to use red white and black a lot. However it still looks modern and up to date therefore attracting different types of audience, it is not aimed for the older generation, neither the younger so it is a successful magazines they do not have a certain target market.
- -There are various fonts used on this magazine cover, all of them are clear and bold which attracts the audience as once they have seen the image they will want a brief idea of what is in the magazine therefore the audience would determine weather they buy it or not. Even though more than one font has been used it still works as it breaks up the different stories and makes the cover look more interesting and proffesional meaning the audience will want to buy it.
- -The layout of the magazine is fairly different as usually the image is placed to the side and there is the main story at the bottom of the page, however Q magazine has placed all the stories round the edge, this has probably been purposefully done to show the readers that all of the stories are equally good and you should buy the magazine not for one story but all of them. The lay out is quite minimalistic as i think the picture speaks for itself and the simple colour scheme keeps things modern and relative to the genre
- -The stories themselves are all different, for example the top right story '100 most shocking moments in music'. The word 'shocking' is written this makes the readers question the magazine, they want to read the article and find out whats number one. Different artists are mentioned to appeal to everyone, for example, Jimi Hendrix would appeal the more 'rock' inspired audience whereas Vampire Weekend would be more appreciated by the 'indie' scene. Also quotes are used from the interviews making the audience want to read who the artist is talking about,
